KIRK SENTENCED TO 55 YEARS FOR BRUTALLY PUNCHING A MAN TO DEATH

Evansville, IN – Prosecutor Diana Moers announces that on February 26, 2025, Cade Christoper Kirk was sentenced to 55 years for the murder of Corey Fisher. This sentencing follows a guilty verdict on February 4, 2025. The Honorable Magistrate Judge Ryan C. Reed of the Vanderburgh County Circuit Court presided.

During the attack on Fisher, approximately 42 punches were landed on him by Kirk and a co-defendant, almost all of which were to the head. Kirk punched 16 times, all of which were with his right hand – the hand seemingly reaching toward brass knuckles which were in his right pocket. Kirk also held Fisher while the co-defendant landed at least 10 blows directly to Fisher’s head. Cause of death was determined to be blunt force trauma to the head.

During the sentencing hearing, the court acknowledged the brutality of the attack and Kirk’s extensive prior criminal record. The court determined that the aggravators outweighed the mitigators and sentenced Kirk to 55 years executed at the Indiana Department of Correction.

Chief Deputy Lin stated: “This murder was intentional and vicious, as Cade Kirk punched the victim 16 times, mostly in the head, possibly with brass knuckles equipped. Any person with the capacity for such monstrous violence is no longer safe to reside in our community. Accordingly, the State asked for the court to impose a sentence of 60 years executed at the Indiana Department of Correction. The court determined that the aggravators outweighed the mitigators, and imposed a slightly lesser sentence of 55 years, which will still remove Cade Kirk from Vanderburgh County for a very long period of time. The victim’s family is satisfied by this result, and we hope that it brings them some measure of comfort and the community the firm assurance that justice has been obtained.”
